Meiko is a singer/songwriter who writes eloquent song lyrics and possesses a soothing voice. It is this combination that has attracted a loyal radio audience out west in Los Angeles. Her music can best be described as a mix of Indie pop and folk.
Critics have described her songs as beautiful, haunting and melodic. Growing up in Roberta, Georgia (population: 808), Meiko took up singing when she was eight after listening to a Mariah Carey tape. At age 13, she was given a guitar by her father.
When I listened to one of her songs from her debut CD, I had to listen to another. Thirty minutes later, I realized I'd listened to the entire album! If you're looking for a new sound, this rising star is worth a listen...
