Go to New Orleans...
Before we left our local airport for New Orleans not so long ago, an old acquaintance asked if we were packing a pistol. On our return to North Carolina, an old dance buddy of ours asked quizzically, “How was that?”
We can tell you we’ve been to New Orleans and it was great. In fact, it was better than ever, at least within the confines of the old city. In the French Quarter, most establishments are back, the downtown hotel area is welcoming business travelers and tourists alike, and the hottest tour in town happens to be Gray Line’s Katrina bus ride.
But don’t go for the liquor and the ladies. Go to see the spirit of New Orleans. Go to see what happened to a great American city and what is needed to bring it back. Go to see the heart of the place.
