Bundt pan creator ...
The Bundt pan is the top-selling cake pan in the world, and the man who
created it was H. David Dalquist. He designed the pan in 1950, the same
year the first Volkswagon van rolled off the assembly line, the comic
strip Peanuts got its start and Dr. von Braun remarked that rocket
flights to the moon were possible. Mr. Dalquist was spurred on by
members of the Minneapolis Chapter of the Hadassah Society who needed a
better cake pan. They were using mismatched ceramic pans and wanted a
new aluminum pan.
Mr. Dalquist was able to come up with

slice it into measured pieces for serving. We must assume the
Minneapolis women were delighted. They decided to name the pans “bund
pans” for the German word “bund,” which means “a gathering of people.”
Mr. Dalquist added the “t.” In 1966, the Bundt pan finally took off
with the general public. That was the year a Texas woman won second
place for her Tunnel of Fudge Cake in the Pillsbury Bake-Off. She used,
of course, a Bundt pan. A trend was started….
