Thinking about beauty…  
Child's Abacus
We’ve been wondering about how you create beauty. By subtraction, we’ve decided. We don’t like this idea much, but we think it holds a lot of truth. You add and add and add and then you’re forced to subtract. You take away "prized" possessions to remove clutter from your house. You tell your children “no” so they will grow up to be responsible adults. You eliminate words as a way to improve your writing.

We’d rather add and add. But when we do this, we get lost in the confusion. Addition demands by its very nature subtraction, we think. Odd, isn’t it?
