Guidelines for making a donation ...

Giving to a charity has always appealed to me, but I’ve never known exactly how to give or which organization to give to. Here are some do’s and don’ts that I learned from the Coalition for Women’s Economic Development and Global Equity, better known as Women’s Edge:
1. Do write a check – don’t donate cash!
2. Do make the check out to the charity – don’t make the check out to the individual collecting donations for the charity.
3. Do keep records of all your donations – this helps at tax time!
4. Don’t be fooled by impressive looking, or sounding, names – stick to well-known organizations.
5. Don’t feel pressured to give money on the spot. Take your time to gather information before giving.
With these tips, you can feel a little less stressed about doing a good deed!
