Return of The Blob...

Kay Linaker, who either wrote or co-wrote the 1950s horror film The Blob depending on your source, died this month, according to the Associated Press. She was 94. A film actress of the 1930s and 1940s, she reportedly was paid $125 for the film’s screenplay.
A classic sci-fi/horror film, The Blob tells the story of an alien, jelly-like creature that lands on Earth inside a meteor. Spreading across Pennsylvania, the creature consumes everything in its path, growing larger and larger. The film grossed $4 million in its day and starred Steve McQueen in his debut performance. McQueen accepted $3,000 for his part.
Each July, The Blob returns to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, one of the film’s locations, when the town holds its annual “Blobfest.” Invaded by The Blob near the film’s conclusion, The Colonial Theatre is the center of the action. Don’t miss the Theater Panic Re-enactment. Participants can also enter a Steve McQueen Look-alike Contest this year. Wear your Tinfoil hat!
