Science Facts
Alligator, Chicken and T-Rex ...
You wouldn’t know it to look at him, but Tyrannosaurus rex may have tasted a lot like chicken! Of course, that’s one big chicken.
According to researchers, new scientific evidence points to a relationship between the dinosaur and the farmyard bird. In fact, scientists say, similarities exist at the molecular level. Researchers used protein fragments from soft tissue samples taken from the leg bone of a Tyrannosaurus rex, found in Montana in 2003, to make the comparison.
T-rex, these scientists tell us, is part of the class Archosauria, which includes today’s chicken and ancestors of our modern-day alligators. That’s chicken to us!
